Berit Hines is an award winning ceramic artist.
She obtained her BFA in Ceramics at the Royal Academy for Art and Design in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. For over ten years she worked as a studio artist with regular group and solo shows in The Netherlands and Germany, as well as teaching Ceramics to adults and children.
After her immigration to the USA in 1997 she married and built a new life there. It would take 22 years before she would get back into her art by pure happenstance.
She currently divides her time between her home studio in Wisconsin and her studio at the Morean Center for Clay in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Her work is hand thrown or hand built, or a combination of various techniques. The decorations are painstakingly carved by hand. Berit is always fascinated by texture and color, by their contrast, inspired by landscape, the weather, the ocean, nature.
